Will Hobbs is the author of Jackie's Wild Seattle. He started to write because of his love of reading as an adult and as a child. Now he is an accomplished writer, and has written full time since 1990. After having published 16 novels as well as 2 picture books, he is an award winning author. Will Hobbs and his wife Jean now live in Durango, Colorado, where he creates his wonderful novels, inspired by the beautiful scenery. Here is a brief biography about Will Hobbs.
Before his life as a full time writer, Will Hobbs did many things. As a child (he has three brothers and a sister) he grew up in an Air Force family. As a result, he grew up moving around to many different places, states, and even countries. Some examples of which are Pennsylvania, Panama, Alaska, Virginia, and more, while all of them helped to inspire his writing. He would roam the hills and natural enviroments at each of his homes, enjoying every minute of it. Later on in his life, he went to Stanford. Afterwards he moved to southwestern Colorado, near his future home in Durango, Colorado. Later he became a reading and language arts teacher, and he became a full time writer in 1990. Before his writing career Will Hobbs experienced and did many things that would influence his writing and his writing style.
Stories by Will Hobbs are inspired by many experiences, while they have also won many awards! Out of all of Will Hobbs' ideas for stories, about half of them are from real life experiences. Many of his novels have won awards. Some examples of which are awards like the 100 Best Young Books of the Twentieth Century ( awarded to Far North and Downriver), Best Books for Young Readers by the American Library Association (awarded to The Big Wander, Beardance, The Maze, Jason's Gold, Far North, Bearstone, and Down River), the Colorado Book Award, the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Young Mystery (awarded to Ghost Canoe), and much, much more!
